My Weekly Review (#16) – Carnival Row
Welcome back! After a long, hectic week, I am finally back with recommendation #16, Amazon Prime’s Carnival Row.
I’m only halfway through season one, but so far it is one of the best shows I have binged over the last few months. The premise of Carnival Row revolves around inspector Philo (Orlando Bloom), who is trying to save the lives of the Critches and non-humans of Carnival Row itself. Vignette (Cara Delevingne), is Philo’s long lost lover and looking to start a new life in The Burge. IMDb’s synopsis of the show is “A human detective and a fairy rekindle a dangerous affair in a Victorian fantasy world, where the city’s uneasy peace collapses when a string of murders reveals an unimaginable monster,” and they have it rated at an 8.1/10.
It is so refreshing to see Orlando Bloom back on the screen, and he is nailing this role as a rugged detective searching for monstrous murderers. Not to mention, he and Cara are a splendid on screen duo and I cannot wait to see what the rest of this season has in store. All in all, through five episodes I would rate this show an 8.5/10, with my only critique being some of the concept designs behind the monsters in this show. Thanks again for reading this weeks recommendation. As always, please leave some feedback and give my page a follow so you can experience all of my content. I’d love to hear from all of my wonderful readers, so be sure to rate/comment often!
